The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) on behalf of the Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Industrial Technologies Program
(ITP) is
seeking cost shared research and development applications which will
reduce
energy consumption, enhance economic competitiveness and reduce
environmental
impacts of the domestic mining industry. Complete details of this

Assistance Opportunity Announcement (FOA) are contained in Master
Solicitation
DE-PS26-04NT42064-00.

PROGRAM AREA OF INTEREST 1 - DE-PS26-04NT42064-01: ENERGY EFFICIENT
ALTERNATIVES TO CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES IN EXTRACTION - Extraction is the
removal of ore from surface or underground mines. This involves excavating

activities such as digging, blasting, breaking, loading and hauling.
Interests
include revolutionary energy alternatives to mineral processes using
equipment
or processes to mine and to process ore.

Applications that address Phase I, Phase II or Phase III activities, or
any
combination thereof, for Area of Interest 1, Energy Efficient Alternatives
to
Current Technologies in Extraction, should be submitted in response to
DE-PS26-04NT42064-01 (See the Master Solicitation for descriptions of
Phase I,
Phase II or Phase III activities, anticipated number of awards,
anticipated
project performance periods, mandatory cost share requirements, mandatory
multi-partner collaboration and other pertinent details).

NOTE THAT APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATION UNDER THE PROGRAM AREA
OF
INTEREST THAT BEST FITS THE MAJORITY OF THE EFFORT TO BE PERFORMED. If an
application is submitted under a program area of interest which the DOE
believes fits more appropriately in another program area of interest, the
applicant will be directed to resubmit under the appropriate area of
interest.
Do not submit an identical application under more than one area of
interest.

Applications MUST be submitted in the prescribed format, as contained in
Master
Solicitation DE-PS26-04NT42064-00.

All applications must be submitted through the Industry Interactive
Procurement
System (IIPS) at http://e-center.doe.gov and must be in either WORD (.doc)
or
ADOBE Acrobat (.pdf) format.
